Join a Team

We are so grateful for everyone who serves on a team here at St Gregory’s! Our Sunday gatherings, midweek youth group and wider events simply wouldn’t be possible without the whole St Gregory’s family giving their energy and time so generously.

The Biblical vision for the church is as the body of Christ: one body but with many different parts. We want everyone – with all our differences and distinctiveness to know we are significant to the story of St Gregory’s.

We would love to draw as many as possible into the life and mission of the church. As we go forward, we don’t want an over-active core group of people working at an unsustainable pace to outwork the vision of the church.

So the message is simple: don’t stand on the sidelines, don’t discount yourself, jump in and play your part. We encourage everyone to find a ‘sweet spot’ and a ‘serve spot’ in the life of the community.

A ‘sweet spot’ is about finding a way of contributing that makes use of your passions and talents and loves: it is something that really makes you come alive and feels like a strength for you. We long to see people understand how God has made them and know that those passions and skills and interests can enrich the church and strengthen its mission.

A ‘serve spot’ is all about prioritising serving the whole body where its needs are; it may not be something that you find obviously exciting but it is something that helps the wider church community to function and thrive. There is immense privilege here: in service we get to prefer those around us and play a part in making vision reality.

The risk of consuming on the sidelines can fast lead to us becoming commentators and critics - we desire to be a church of contributors with a shared responsibility for the life of the church. In what ways do you think you could help the church to thrive?

Kids

The kids team at St Gregory's wants to see children grow in their knowledge and love of Jesus and have fun along the way! It's about helping them form their own personal relationship with Jesus. The team helps create a safe and fun environment for all the children, and have a lot of fun themselves! If you would like to join the Kids team and volunteer on a Sunday at church, our Kids and Youth Leader, Nick, would love to hear from you!

There are a number of different roles you could get involved with within the kids team, and you aren’t signing up to serve every week! Nick can be contacted on nick@stgregorys.uk, for an initial chat and more information. (You will need to complete a DBS check and referencing before serving on this team)

Worship & Production

Youth

The youth team at St Gregory's wants to see young people loving Jesus, one another and their communities they are in, and having lots of fun along the way! If you would like to join the youth team and volunteer on a Sunday at church, or at the midweek older youth group, our Kids and Youth Leader, Nick, would love to hear from you!

The worship team is made up of singers and musicians who are passionate about wholeheartedly leading people into the presence of God! If you’re interested in joining the worship team we’d love to hear from you, please email esther@stgregorys.uk to do so. We will send you our Worship Team Handbook and a small application form, we may ask you to send in some footage of you playing or we’ll arrange an informal audition.

The production team is as much part of the worship team as anyone who sings or plays an instrument! We want St Gregory’s to be accessible to everyone and we do this through using our sound and visual equipment! We train all our team members so no prior experience is needed. Please email esther@stgregorys.uk if you’re interested!

Welcome & Hospitality

We want everyone to feel right at home here at St Gregory’s which is why we are so grateful for everyone on the welcome team! If you love meeting new people, having a chat and making people feel seen and known then we’d love to hear from you.

We want our hospitality team to be an extension of the warm welcome everyone receives as they join for a Sunday gathering or special event and what better way to do that than through a warm drink and some cake? If you love making people feel at home and having a chat then you’d be perfect on the hospitality team! (and if you reckon you could see yourself on the next season of The Great British Bake Off we wouldn’t turn you away from baking a treat for Sunday, we promise you don’t have to be a star baker….Paul Hollywood hasn’t visited us…yet!)  Please email esther@stgregorys.uk if you’re interested in this team.

As we’re a church plant we have the joy of getting to set up church every Sunday in our venue! This requires lots of moving things around and packing everything back into the shed afterwards.

If you’re willing to come to church a little earlier or stay a little later and know how to bend from the knees then this is the team for you! Please email esther@stgregorys.uk if you’re interested in this team.
